Menabo Stand Up: rear bike rack for your car's tailgate or boot lid

Every season has its own charm, and when we think of summer, we think of sport, exercise and cycling. If you are planning to take your bike out on your favourite route this summer, now is the time to get properly kitted out. By kitted out, we mean how you will prepare for the journey with your bike. And you may not set off on your two-wheeled adventure alone: a few friends may well come along too.

So how do you prepare for a trip like this? First of all, make sure you can carry your bike or bikes safely. Now is the time to think about a bike rack that will help you set off well prepared. You may be wondering what the point is of fitting a bike rack to your car. After all, we know that the handiest way to carry bikes is to squeeze them into the car with you and your passengers. We would warn you, however, that this so-called solution is the wrong one. Why? Because when bikes travel inside the car with you, you are exposed to a serious risk. Every time you brake, or in a collision, the bikes can turn into dangerous projectiles. That is quite a big risk to take, and it puts everyone in the car with you in danger too.

The best choice in this case is a bike rack that suits your needs.

What are bike racks, and how can they help when we travel with our bikes? A bike rack is the car accessory that lets you carry your bikes safely from A to B. There are several types of bike rack on the market, and one important difference between them is how they attach to the car.

Bike racks fall into the following categories:

-Bike racks for roof bars

-Rear bike racks for the tailgate or boot lid

-Towbar bike racks

Depending on your needs and how many bikes you carry, a bike rack can help you in many situations. In this article we look at the Menabo Stand Up rear bike rack, which fits on the tailgate or boot lid. It comes in two versions, for two or three bikes.

How do you fit the Menabo Stand Up rack on your car?

Before you choose this rack, make sure the Menabo Stand Up fits your car. As mentioned above, the Stand Up mounts on the car's tailgate or boot lid. The parts of the rack that touch the bodywork are rubberised and specially coated with a rubber compound, so the rack will not scratch the paintwork. The Stand Up is secured to the bodywork at 6 tension points with special straps.

Before fitting the rack, make sure the area of the car where it rests is clean. Once the rack is in place, hook its straps onto the bodywork in the gaps around the tailgate or boot lid. Check that the rack is stable and sits upright.

Next, get the rack's wheel trays ready for the bikes. First place the bike with its wheels in the wheel trays and secure them with the clamps. Then grip the bike frame with the rack's frame holder arm, tightening the knob on its claw. It is important to go through every step and, at the end, check once more that the rack and the bikes are stable.

Why choose this bike rack?

The Menabo Stand Up bike rack is quick and easy to fit on compatible cars. With this rack you can carry two or three bikes, depending on the version you choose. The Menabo Stand Up for two bikes has a maximum load of 30 kg, while the three-bike version can carry up to 45 kg.

The Stand Up can also be fitted, on request, with locks for both the rack and the bikes. This Menabo accessory also folds, so when you are not using it you can easily store it in a cupboard or in the garage.

Both the two-bike and the three-bike versions of the Menabo Stand Up are approved and TÜV tested for road safety.

With this bike rack you can safely carry city bikes, road bikes, step-through bikes, children's bikes, mountain bikes and other bikes that are compatible with the rack.
