The Audi A6 C7 has the internal code Typ 4G and was launched in Europe in early 2011, with production from December 2010 to 2018. It shares the MLB (Modular Longitudinal Platform) with the Audi A7 and was offered as a 4-door saloon and as a 5-door Avant (estate). The facelift was presented at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, for 2015-2018 models. On the same base, Audi presented the A6 allroad quattro in 2012 at Geneva.

On the A6 C7 the roof differs from one body type to another, and that decides the fitting kit. The 4G saloon has no roof rails, but mounting holes under the roof trims, covered with plastic plugs. The allroad version has roof rails. The extra-low profile keeps the bars close to the roof, which looks better on the car, improves aerodynamics and helps when passing under low clearances. Wind tunnel tests cut the noise a lot while driving, and the bars are designed to stay on the car permanently.

The set contains 2 aluminium bars, 4 fitting systems for the rail-type roof rails and 4 anti-theft locks with keys. The bar is 80 mm wide with a 20 mm T-track along its whole length, into which accessories attach with T mounts. Tightening is easy, with a special key supplied in the box, and the bars are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 approved.
