About the car: BMW 5 Series F10 saloon (2010-2017)
The F10 is the sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series, produced from January 2010 to 2017. The code F10 means the 4-door saloon, while the 5-door estate is called the F11 Touring. The model shares its platform with the BMW 7 Series F01. Production of the facelift version (LCI) began in July 2013, with revised tail lights and optional LED or adaptive headlights. The kit we fitted is for the F10 2010-2013, that is, for cars from before the facelift.
The F10 saloon in this fitting has a smooth roof, without roof rails, so the bars fix directly to the body, with fitting kits made for this car. As a reference for the roof load, the 2014 US edition of the BMW 5 Series F10 manual gives 100 kg for the 535d xDrive version. The value can differ for other versions, so on the roof the lower limit of bars and car always applies; the Tema bars carry 75 kg.
What we fitted on this BMW F10
The set we chose is Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for BMW 5 Series (F10), 4-door, 2010-2013. The bars have an oval, aerodynamic profile, and the metal components are protected with a rubberised coating and anti-corrosion treatment. Each bar is 1,300 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide, and the complete set weighs 5.2 kg.
The 20 mm T-track on top takes accessories with T-track fittings, while those with only a U-bolt fitting are fixed with clamps around the outside of the bar. The package includes 4 fitting kits for the F10, 4 feet, 2 bars, 4 locks with keys and the Allen key, so you need no other tools.
