About the car: Ford EcoSport second generation (B515), facelift
The second-generation Ford EcoSport has the project code B515 and is built on the Fiesta B2E platform. It is a 5-door SUV, launched in Europe in 2014. The facelift, with a redesigned front end and a new rear bumper, was announced in Los Angeles in 2016 for the 2018 model year. The European version was built in Craiova, Romania, from autumn 2017 until the end of 2022. The car in this fitting is an EcoSport facelift, with the spare wheel mounted on the rear door.
What matters for a roof box is that the EcoSport in this fitting has raised, black roof rails. The roof bars fix onto them, and the box sits on the roof bars, not directly on the roof. This way, the box adds luggage space above the car, useful for trips with a lot of luggage.
What we fitted on this EcoSport
On the EcoSport we put the roof box Menabo Marathon Dark 460, made of ABS plastic, in matt black. It has 460 litres, a lock and opens on one side (the right, according to the data sheet). In the pack you get 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-track fixings, and the 80 mm U-bolt fixing can be ordered as an option.
The product data sheet lists the Marathon as compatible with a wide range of roof bars: Menabo Tema, Omega, Delta, Brio, Sherman, Jackson, Tiger, Leopard, Lince, as well as Thule Wingbar, Squarebar, Probar and Slidebar or Yakima ThruBar/FlushBar. For instructions, the product page has the fitting PDF shared by the Mania and Marathon 400 L and 460 L.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Menabo Marathon Dark 460 box volume: 460 litres.
- Fixings included: 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-track; 80 mm U-bolt optional.
- Material: ABS plastic, colour: matt black, lock, opens on one side.
- Useful calculation: from the maximum load of the bars and of the roof, subtract the weight of the box, then the weight of the luggage; the exact limits for the EcoSport are checked in the car's manual.
- With the box on the roof, the height of the EcoSport rises noticeably: check the height at underground car parks and in the garage.
