Ford Fiesta with Menabo Delta Silver roof bars, Menabo Mania 400 roof box and Thule 532 bike rack

On a 5-door Ford Fiesta we fitted three products that work together: Menabo Delta Silver roof bars, the white Menabo Mania 400 roof box and the Thule FreeRide 532 bike rack. The fitting was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: 5-door Ford Fiesta (Mk7, judging by the photos)

Judging by the photos, the Fiesta in this fitting belongs to the seventh and last generation (Mk7, called Mk8 in the UK), built from 2017 until July 2023; the last car came off the line on 7 July 2023. The generation came as a 3- or 5-door hatchback on Ford's global B-car platform, with a facelift announced in September 2021 and launched in early 2022.

The standard hatchback has no roof rails, so the bars sit on the roof with feet fixed in the door frames, with a kit made for that generation. The Fiesta Active crossover version, by contrast, has roof rails as standard and 18 mm more ground clearance, so it needs a different type of roof bars.

What we fitted on this Ford Fiesta

The bars are Menabo Delta Silver, in silver aluminium, fixed to the bodywork: 1,190 mm long, 30 mm high, 60 mm wide, 20 mm T-track, locks with keys and 50 kg maximum load, TÜV and ISO tested.

On the bars we fitted the the Menabo Mania 400 ABS White roof box, glossy white, with a volume of 400 litres, a lock and opening on one side. It includes 20 mm T-track and 60 mm U-bolt fixings, and its data sheet lists the Menabo Delta roof bars as compatible.

On the same bars we also fitted Thule FreeRide 532 bike rack, made of steel, for one bike of up to 17 kg, held by the frame and the wheels. It has a lock for the rack and the bike, a 20 mm T-track fixing and TÜV, ISO and Crash Test certification, and its data sheet confirms compatibility with the Menabo Delta roof bars.

Specifications and load calculation

• The Delta Silver roof bars weigh 5.2 kg and carry a maximum of 50 kg, which includes the box with luggage, the rack and the bike.
• The Thule rack weighs 3.5 kg; with a 17 kg bike you reach 20.5 kg, so at most 29.5 kg remain for the Mania box with its luggage.
• The Mania 400 box is rated for 75 kg, but here the real limit is set by the roof bars and by the roof load in the Ford manual.

• With a bike on the roof the car becomes much taller: take care at underground car parks, garages and car washes.
• The Thule FreeRide 532 takes round frames of 22-70 mm and oval frames of 65x80 mm; check your bike's frame beforehand.
