About the car: Ford Focus IV (C519) hatchback
The Ford Focus IV, internal code C519, was presented for Europe and Asia on 10 April 2018 and was built for Europe from 2018 to November 2025. It sits on the Ford C2 platform, an evolution of the C1 platform used by earlier generations, and was available as a 5-door hatchback, a 5-door estate and a 4-door saloon. The facelift for the European market came in October 2021, so our fitting from September 2021 is on a pre-facelift Focus IV.
The Focus IV hatchback has a normal roof without roof rails, which makes it a good candidate for a magnetic ski rack: the Viking sits directly on the roof panel, without roof bars. The condition is that the roof is metal and smooth. If your Focus has a sunroof or a panoramic roof, choose a ski rack for roof bars.
What we fitted on this Focus IV
On this Focus we fitted the Menabo Viking ski rack with magnetic attachment. It fixes to the roof with a strong magnet and a rubber base that holds the rack firmly without scratching the paint. It takes 2 pairs of skis and 4 poles, has locks for both the rack and the equipment, and meets TÜV, ISO/PAS 11154:2006 and DIN 75302.
The loading area is 8 cm high, which is the maximum width of the skis at the fixing points, and the loading surface is 32 cm. The rack is made of plastic, weighs 4 kg and carries a maximum of 12 kg. The product page lists 0 snowboards, so the Viking is strictly a ski rack.
In the video below you will find a presentation of the Menabo Viking rack. Before each fitting, wipe the roof where you place the magnet, as we explain in the guide how to fit a magnetic ski rack in a few steps.

The Menabo Viking magnetic ski rack takes 2 pairs of skis plus 4 poles, with a maximum weight of 12 kg. The skis can be at most 8 cm wide at the fixing points.
Can I carry a snowboard on the Menabo Viking rack?
No. The product page for the Menabo Viking lists 0 snowboards, so it is a ski-only rack. For snowboards, choose another model from the range of ski & snowboard racks.
When can a magnetic ski rack not be used on a car?
