About the car: Ford Galaxy second generation (2006-2015)

The second-generation Ford Galaxy, with the platform code CD340, was produced from May 2006 to 2015, and the third generation went on sale in mid-2015. The pre-facelift version covers the years 2006-2010, and the facelift 2010-2015. The Galaxy is a 7-seat MPV and uses the Ford EUCD platform, together with the S-Max, which went on sale at the same time as the new Galaxy generation, in May 2006.

The roof matters for fitting: on the Galaxy, silver roof rails sit on the roof, and the feet of the roof bars attach to them. The roof box is fitted on the roof bars, so before a journey check that they are firmly secured, because they support the box and the luggage.

We fitted the the Menabo Marathon Dark 460 roof box, made of ABS plastic, in matt black. It has a volume of 460 litres, opens on one side and has a lock. It attaches to the bars with 60 mm U-bolts and 20 mm T-bolts, both included.

The box makes room for bags, trolley cases and other luggage, and the volume of 460 litres suits a long journey. The product page lists it as compatible with a wide range of bars, including Menabo, Thule, Yakima and K39, so check the type of your bars before ordering.
