Hyundai i30 (PD) Fastback with Menabo Tema Roof Bars and Menabo Marathon 320 Roof Box

We fitted Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars and a Menabo Marathon Dark 320 roof box on a Hyundai i30 (PD) Fastback in our SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania. The 320-litre box gives you room for luggage, and the roof bars carry it on the roof.

About the car: Hyundai i30 third generation (PD)

The third-generation Hyundai i30 (code PD) has been built since December 2016 and comes as a 5-door hatchback, a 5-door estate (i30 Wagon) and a 5-door liftback (i30 Fastback). There is no 3-door version of this generation, so our fitting is on the 5-door Fastback. Hyundai announced in 2017 that the Fastback would be available in Europe before 2018.

The Tema bars fit directly onto the roof, as the product description says, and the 320-litre box adds height on top. The Fastback roof is 25 mm lower than that of the 5-door hatchback, so measure the car with the box fitted. The car's manual mentions mounting points for a roof rack, with covers, on some versions.

The bars are Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for Hyundai i30 (PD) Fastback, 5-door, 2016+. The set has 2 aluminium bars of 1,120 mm, 4 feet and a 20 mm T-track on top for accessories with T-track fitting.

The box is the Menabo Marathon Dark 320 roof box, with 320 litres, opening on one side and an anti-theft lock. Technical details and what to watch for

The Tema bars have a maximum load of 75 kg. The weight of the box (11 kg) and of any other accessories is deducted from this figure.
The Marathon 320 box has a maximum load of 50 kg.
The 60 mm U-bolts are included. 80 mm U-bolts and 20 mm T-track fittings are optional.

The total height of the car increases with the box on the roof. Measure it before barrier car parks or underground garages.
After the first few kilometres, check that the box and the bars are tight.
