About the car: Hyundai Santa Fe second generation (CM)
The Hyundai Santa Fe CM is the second generation of the model, a 5-door SUV built on the Hyundai-Kia Y5 platform and produced between 2005 and 2012. The new Santa Fe went on sale in South Korea at the end of 2005, and for the 2010 model year it received a facelift designed in Germany. The car in our fitting carries a Club Hyundai Santa Fe Romania sticker on the tailgate.
The roof matters a lot when choosing a box. This Santa Fe CM has raised roof rails with factory cross bars already fitted on them, so there was no need for a new set of roof bars: the box was fitted directly onto the existing bars. Before loading, check the maximum roof load allowed in the car's manual, because the weight of the box and the luggage add up.
What we fitted on this Santa Fe CM
We chose the black Carbon Look 320 L roof box, a compact polypropylene box with a matt black finish and a carbon texture. It has a volume of 320 litres, carries 55 kg of luggage and measures 131 cm long and 34 cm high on the outside.
The box attaches to the cross bars with an 80 mm U-bolt fitting, opens on one side and has an anti-theft lock. The product sheet lists it as compatible with many roof bars on the market, from Menabo, K39 and Thule to Yakima and Mont Blanc.
