Hyundai Santa Fe with Menabo Lince Silver XL bars and a Fabbri Nova 430 roof box

On a Hyundai Santa Fe we fitted a set of Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars and a Fabbri Nova 430 roof box at the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Hyundai Santa Fe (2012-2018)

The Hyundai Santa Fe of 2012-2018 was sold in two versions: short wheelbase, built from April 2012 to February 2018, and long wheelbase, built from January 2013 to November 2018. In other regions, the short version was sold simply as the Santa Fe, and in the USA and Canada as the Santa Fe Sport. The model received a facelift for the 2017 model year, with redesigned headlights and rear lights.

In the photo, the integrated roof rail sits flush with the roof, with no gap under it, and the foot of the roof bar attaches directly to it. This type of roof means the bars must be chosen for fitting on the integrated rail, and the box is fitted on the roof bars, not on the roof.

What we fitted on this Santa Fe

The Menabo Lince Silver XL are 1,350 mm long, 30 mm high and 80 mm wide, with a 20 mm T-track along the whole length. The wing-shaped aerodynamic profile helps reduce noise while driving, and the capacity is 90 kg. The set includes two bars, four feet and four locks with keys.

The Fabbri Nova 430 Black has 430 litres, dimensions of 175 x 80 x 44 cm and a weight of 12.4 kg. It is TÜV and City Crash tested, has an integrated lock and is compatible with Menabo Lince bars. The Fabbri Nova is a range launched by Modula under the Fabbri brand, which we write about in a dedicated guide.

Technical details and what to watch for

• The bars carry 90 kg. The weight of the Fabbri Nova 430 box, 12.4 kg, is deducted from the capacity of the bars, and the box has its own capacity of 75 kg.
• The box is 44 cm high, so after fitting the car becomes at least that much taller. Check the height before car parks with barriers.
• The box fitting system is included in the package, so you do not need any other special tools for fitting.
• The instruction manual for the Menabo Lince bars is included in the package.
• You will find the fitting instructions for the roof box below, in PDF.
• For the general fitting steps on roof bars, read our fitting guide.
