About the car: Mazda 2 DE, second generation

Mazda 2 DE is the code of the hatchback version of the second-generation Mazda2, produced from May 2007 to November 2014. The body came with 3 or 5 doors, and the 4-door saloon has the code DH. The facelift reached Europe at the end of 2010, for the 2011 model year.

The car in the post photo has a normal roof, without roof rails, and the roof bars are attached to the door frames. On a roof like this, the box is fitted on the roof bars, so the bars must be fitted correctly before the box.

What we fitted on this Mazda 2

The box is the Menabo Diamond 450 White roof box, made of gloss white ABS plastic, with 450 litres of volume and opening on the right-hand side. It has an integrated lock and attaches to the T-track of the bars with 20 mm T-bolts, and fitting is quick with the Quick Fix system included.

The box weighs 18 kg and carries 75 kg of luggage. It is compatible with Menabo Omega, Tema, Delta, Tiger and Lince bars. The fitting instructions are available on the product page.

Useful details before fitting

• The weight of the box, 18 kg, is deducted from the load capacity of the roof bars, together with the luggage. Check the load capacity of your own bars before fitting.
• For some bars, such as Menabo Brio, Menabo Raven, K39 King or steel K39 - K1, you need the adapter with item number 000082500000.
• The lock is integrated in the box, and it opens on one side, the right.
• The height of the car increases with the box fitted. Check before entering car parks with barriers or height limits.
• Follow the order of the steps in the fitting instructions so that the box is fixed correctly on the bars.
