The Mercedes A W176 is the third generation of the A-Class. It was built between July 2012 and May 2018 as a 5-door hatchback, on the front-wheel-drive MFA platform. The model was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012, and the facelift was presented in the third quarter of 2015.

The roof of this generation is normal, without factory roof rails, so the roof bars fix onto the door frames, using a fitting kit made for the car. In the fitting shown in this post, the clamp of the kit is fixed on the edge of the door. This type of fixing matters when choosing the set and the accessories that are then fitted on the bars.

We fitted the Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for Mercedes A W176, 5-door. The set includes two 1,120 mm aluminium bars, four feet, four fixing systems, four anti-theft locks with keys and an Allen key, so no other tool is needed. The set weighs 4.9 kg.

Bike racks, roof boxes, ski racks or kayak & canoe racks with a T-bolt fitting fix into the 20 mm T-track on the top of the bars. If an accessory has no T-bolt fitting, the U-bolt fitting can be used around the outside of the roof bar.

• The bars are 1,120 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide, are made of aluminium and are TÜV and ISO approved.
