About the car: Mercedes A W177

The Mercedes A W177 is the fourth generation of the A-Class. It was launched in 2018 as the successor to the W176 generation, with sales from March 2018. The 5-door hatchback body has the code W177, and the 4-door saloon has the code V177. The model received a facelift for model year 2023.

The roof of this A-Class is normal, without factory roof rails. That is why the roof bars attach to the bodywork, on the door frame, with a vehicle-specific kit. The type of roof matters when choosing the set, and on Menabo Tema roof bars you can then fit bike racks, roof boxes or ski racks.

What we fitted on this Mercedes A

The set of Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for Mercedes A (W177), 5-door has two aluminium bars, 1,120 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide. On top, the bars have a 20 mm track for accessories with a T-track fitting. The set includes four feet, four fitting kits, anti-theft locks with keys and an Allen key, and the maximum load is 75 kg.

On the Tema bars we fitted the Menabo Mania 400 ABS White roof box, gloss white, with a volume of 400 litres and one-side opening. The box has an anti-theft lock and includes the 60 mm U-bolt fitting and the 20 mm T-track fitting, and it is compatible with Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars.

Technical details and what to watch for

• Menabo Tema roof bars are 1,120 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide, are made of aluminium and have a 20 mm track on top.
• The maximum load of the roof bars is 75 kg. The weight of the box is subtracted from the 75 kg of the bars, and the rest is left for luggage.
• The Menabo Mania 400 box has a volume of 400 litres, enough for several trolley cases or bags. One-side opening makes access easier.
• The instruction manual for the Tema bars is included in the package. For fitting the Mania box, you will find the fitting instructions below, as a PDF.
• The height of the car increases with the roof bars and box on the roof, so check the total height before underground car parks or barriers.
