About the car: Mercedes E W212 facelift

The Mercedes E W212 was produced as a 4-door saloon between March 2008 and January 2016, and the S212 estate between December 2008 and May 2016. In 2013 it received a facelift with major design changes, lower fuel consumption and new safety equipment. This fitting is on the post-facelift version, model 2013-2016.

The W212 saloon has no factory roof rails, so the Tema bars clamp onto the car body with dedicated fitting kits. In the photo of the fitting, the black saloon has black bars on feet, fixed to the roof, with no roof rails. Because the Tema Steel has no T-track on top, what matters is the U-bolt fitting for accessories, not a T-track one.

The bars are made of steel with an oval, aerodynamic profile, and the metal parts have a rubberised coating and anti-corrosion protection. The package contains 2 bars, 4 feet, 4 fitting kit parts, 4 lock cylinders with keys and an Allen key.

On the Tema Steel, accessories attach with the standard U-bolt fitting around the outside of the bar, because the bars have no T-track on top. Bike racks, roof boxes and ski racks can be fitted to this type of bar.

• Locks and approvals: 4 locks with keys. The bars are TÜV and ISO approved.
• Fitting: the instruction manual is included in the package, and the fitting is done with the Allen key from the package.
