Fourth-generation Mitsubishi Pajero with Menabo Race 4 towbar bike rack

We fitted the Menabo Race 4 bike rack on a fourth-generation Mitsubishi Pajero in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania. The rack attaches to the towbar with a special bolt and has rear lights and a 13/7-pin electrical socket.

About the car: Mitsubishi Pajero fourth generation (V80/V90)

The fourth generation of the Pajero (V80 and V90) was built from September 2006 to March 2021. In 2012 it received a minor restyle (NW series) with an improved body, and in July 2014 a facelift for the 2015 model year (NX series), with a revised front end and LED daytime running lights. There is also a 3-door version, built until 2018, and the photos show the 5-door version.

The towbar is one of the sturdiest points of the car, and the rack fits without depending on the roof bars. This means the rack can also be used on a Pajero without roof bars.

What we fitted on this Pajero

We fitted the the Menabo Race 4 towbar bike rack for 4 bikes. It is made of aluminium and steel, attaches to the towbar with a special bolt and has a platform for the bikes. It is also compatible with the Menabo Nekkar roof box.

The rack has indicator and brake lights and a 13/7-pin electrical socket. The bikes are secured at two points: first the arms on the frame, then the straps on the wheels. The Menabo Race 4 is not compatible with e-bikes or fat bikes. Technical details and what to watch for

• The rack weighs 18 kg, and the packaging measures 120 x 54 x 17 cm.
• The rack carries 4 bikes of up to 15 kg each, and the maximum load is 60 kg. Do the sum before you load the bikes, so that the total does not exceed 60 kg.
• The rack has no tilting function and no anti-theft lock for the rack. A bike lock can be bought as an option.
• The rack has indicator and brake lights and a 13/7-pin electrical socket. After fitting, check the rear lights and the number plate, which must stay visible.

• Before you set off, check that the bikes are secured at both points and that the rack is tightened firmly on the towbar.
