On a pre-facelift Nissan Qashqai J10 we fitted Menabo Sherman Silver XL roof bars and the Menabo Marathon Dark 400 roof box. We did the fitting in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Nissan Qashqai J10 (2006-2013)
The first-generation Nissan Qashqai, code J10, was produced between 2006 and 2013 on the Renault-Nissan C platform. The facelift was announced in December 2009 and went on sale in March 2010, and the car in this fitting is from before it. From July 2008 there was also the Qashqai+2, a 7-seater and longer (4,535 mm, wheelbase 2,760 mm), which has a different roof bar kit from the 5-seat Qashqai.
On the Qashqai J10 we have come across both roof versions in our showroom: a bare roof without rails, and raised silver roof rails. It matters because the Menabo Sherman Silver XL set for the Qashqai J10 is made for the car's roof rails, with 4 feet. For the roof without roof rails the kit is different, and we show it to you in the showroom.
What we fitted on this Qashqai J10
Menabo Sherman Silver XL roof bars for the Nissan Qashqai (J10) are the upgraded version of the old Menabo Brio XL, with a rubber strip on the underside of the aluminium bar. They have an oval aerodynamic profile, a 20 mm T-track along the whole length, locks and a maximum load of 90 kg. They are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 tested and comply with DIN 75302. They come already assembled, with an Allen key in the box.
On top of them we put the Menabo Marathon Dark 400 roof box, 400 litres, made of matt black ABS plastic, opening on the right and lockable. The box comes with a 20 mm T fitting, which suits the 20 mm T-track of the Sherman roof bars, and with a 60 mm U-bolt fitting. The 80 mm U-bolt fitting is an optional extra. The box's product page lists Menabo Sherman roof bars among the compatible ones.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Menabo Sherman Silver XL: length 1,350 mm, height 27 mm, width 47 mm, silver aluminium, 2 bars and 4 feet.
- Menabo Marathon Dark 400: 400 litres, own weight 13.2 kg, maximum load 50 kg, 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T fittings included.
- Calculation: with the box filled to its limit, the roof bars carry 13.2 kg + 50 kg = 63.2 kg, under the 90 kg of the Sherman roof bars. The real limit, though, remains the roof load in the Qashqai J10 manual, which you check in the car's vehicle documentation.
- The Sherman roof bars have no PDF instructions on the site. The fitting instructions are included in the box and should be followed step by step.
- Menabo recommends not exceeding 130 km/h with the roof bars fitted, and the permitted load can differ depending on the make and model of the car.
