Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for Nissan Terrano II R20, 5-door

We fitted a set of Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars on a 5-door Nissan Terrano II in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania. The car has no roof rails, so the bars attach directly to the body.

About the car: Nissan Terrano II (R20)

The Nissan Terrano II, internal code R20, was produced from 1993 to 2005; production stopped in May 2005, with sales until 2006. It was built for Europe by Nissan's Spanish subsidiary Nissan Motor Iberica in Barcelona, and also sold as the Ford Maverick in continental Europe and in the UK. There are 3-door and 5-door bodies, with different wheelbases.

The Terrano II received two facelifts: one in 1996, with round headlights, and one in early 1999. On the car in the photo the roof has no roof rails, and the Menabo Tema bars attach to the body, with clamps on the door frames. This is the roof type the Tema bars are designed for.

What we fitted on this Nissan Terrano 2

We fitted the Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for the Nissan Terrano 2, 5-door, 1995-2005. The set has 2 aluminium bars, 1,120 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide, with 4 feet and 4 fittings. The weight of the set is 4.9 kg.

The bars have a 20 mm channel on top, so accessories with a T-track fitting attach in the channel. If the rack or box has only a U-bolt fitting, it is fitted around the outside of the bar. On the Tema bars you can fit a bike rack, roof box, ski rack or kayak and canoe carrier. The set also includes 4 locks with keys.

Technical details and what to watch for

• The roof bars carry 50 kg, including the weight of the accessories. If you fit a 10 kg box, 40 kg remain for luggage.
• The height of the car increases with accessories fitted. Measure the total height, with luggage, before entering car parks with barriers.
• The 20 mm channel allows a T-track fitting. The U-bolt fitting goes around the outside of the bar, useful if your accessory has only a U-bolt fitting.
• The maximum load may differ depending on the make and model of the car. Check the specifications given by the car manufacturer, Nissan.
• Fitting is done with the Allen key in the pack, with no other tools. The instruction manual is included in the box.
• The bars have a lock, useful when you leave the car unattended.
