Menabo Tema Steel roof bars for Nissan Terrano II R20, 5-door

On a 5-door Nissan Terrano II we fitted a pair of Menabo Tema Steel roof bars in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania. The roof of the car has no roof rails, so the roof bars clamp onto the body.

About the car: Nissan Terrano II (R20)

The Nissan Terrano II, internal code R20, was built for Europe by Nissan's Spanish subsidiary Nissan Motor Iberica, in Barcelona. It was built from 1993 to 2005 and was also sold as the Ford Maverick in continental Europe and the UK. It came as a 3-door and a 5-door, with different wheelbases.

On the car in the photo, the roof has no roof rails, and the black Menabo Tema roof bars clamp onto the door frames, which you can see in the photo. The Terrano II was facelifted in 1996, with round headlights, and again in early 1999. A roof like this makes the Tema bars, which fit directly onto the body, the right choice.

What we fitted on this Nissan Terrano 2

We fitted a pair of Menabo Tema Steel roof bars for the Nissan Terrano 2, 5-door, 1995-2005 models. The steel roof bars have an oval, aerodynamic profile and measure 1,120 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide.

They have a rubberised coating and anti-corrosion treatment, and the set includes 2 bars, 4 feet, 4 fitting kits, 4 lock cylinders with keys and the Allen key. The Tema Steel roof bars have no T-track on top, so accessories fit with U-bolt fitting, around the bar. You can fit a bike rack, roof box, ski rack or kayak & canoe roof rack on them.

Technical details and what to watch for

• The roof bars carry 50 kg, including the weight of the accessories. If you fit a 10 kg accessory, that leaves 40 kg for luggage.
• The roof bar set weighs 5.3 kg.
• The height of the car increases with accessories fitted. Measure the total height before you use car parks with barriers or underground car parks.
• With no T-track, accessories must have U-bolt fitting. Before you buy, check that the rack or box has this fitting.
• The maximum load may differ depending on the make and model of the car. Check the specifications given by the car manufacturer, Nissan.
• Fit the roof bars with the Allen key in the box, following the fitting instructions included. The instruction manual is included in the box.
