Opel Astra with Menabo Delta Silver roof bars fitted directly onto the roof

On an Opel Astra without roof rails, most likely from the post-facelift J generation, we fitted roof bars Menabo Delta Silver that fit directly onto the roof, with no roof rails needed. We did the fitting in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Opel Astra, most likely an Astra J (P09)

Judging by the front, the car in this fitting is most likely an Opel Astra J after the facelift announced in June 2012 for the 2013 model year; the body style, saloon or hatchback, cannot be told from the fitting materials. The Astra J has the code P09, uses the GM Delta II platform and was built from 2009 to 2015 as a hatchback and Sports Tourer, and until 2018 as a GTC and saloon.

With roof bars, what matters is where they attach. On the Astra J hatchback and saloon, the Opel manuals show fixed fitting points under covers that you remove with a coin, while on the Sports Tourer the roof bars bolt into the holes of the roof rails. The roof load is 75 kg on the hatchback and saloon and 100 kg on the Sports Tourer, bars included, and with a load on top you should not exceed 120 km/h. That is why the fitting kit is chosen first by body style.

The Menabo Delta Silver fits directly onto the roof, on cars without factory roof rails, with a vehicle-specific fitting kit. The silver aluminium bars are 1,190 mm long, 60 mm wide and 30 mm high, with a 20 mm T-track for accessories with T-bolts; accessories without T-bolts attach with U-bolts on the outside of the bar. The maximum load is 75 kg, and the set is TÜV and ISO approved.
