About the car: Opel Insignia A, 4-door saloon

The Insignia A, code G09, was built from October 2008 to April 2017, and the major facelift arrived in June 2013. The model was offered as a 4-door saloon, a 5-door liftback and a 5-door estate. The Insignia was the first production model built on the GM Epsilon II platform.

The saloon has no factory roof rails. The Opel manual shows the mounting points in the frame of each door, for the saloon and the liftback, so the Tema bars fit directly to the body with a dedicated kit. The body type decides whether you can use roof bars or a body-mounted fitting kit, and this must be checked before you order.

What we fitted on this Opel Insignia

Menabo Tema steel roof bars are 1,300 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide, with an aerodynamic oval profile. They are made of steel, with rubberised paint and an anti-corrosion treatment, and weigh 5.8 kg. The set includes 2 bars, 4 fitting kits, 4 feet, 4 lock cylinders with keys and the Allen key.

Accessories fit on the Tema with the classic U-bolt fitting, around the outside of the bar, because the bars have no T-track on top. You can fit a bike rack, roof box, ski rack or kayak carrier on them, but check that each accessory has a U-bolt fitting.

• Capacity: 50 kg per set. The rack, the bike and any accessories count towards this limit.
• Fitting: The Tema is fitted without roof rails, with a dedicated fitting kit for the 4-door Opel Insignia. The instruction manual is included in the box.
