About the car: Range Rover Evoque, first generation (L538)
The first-generation Range Rover Evoque has the internal code L538 and was built from July 2011 to 2018, in 3-door and 5-door versions, with 4x2 and 4x4 drive. The car in the photo has 5 doors and an EVOQUE SD4 badge on the tailgate. The second generation (L551) went into production in 2018, so the car in the photo is a first-generation model.
What matters on the roof: on the Evoque in the photo, the aluminium roof bars are fixed to raised black roof rails, set clear of the roof. The body is a unibody with no separate chassis, and the bonnet and roof are aluminium, so the box is fitted on the roof bars, not directly on the roof.
What we fitted on the Range Rover Evoque
We fitted the the Menabo Marathon Dark 400 roof box, a matt black ABS box with a capacity of 400 L. It opens on one side and has an anti-theft lock. The 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-track fittings are included.
The box is compatible with several roof bar sets, including Menabo Delta, Brio, Sherman, Raven, Jackson and Tema, as well as Thule WingBar and Yakima ThruBar. All our roof boxes are in the the dedicated category.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Capacity: 400 L, with a maximum load of 50 kg.
- The box itself weighs 13.2 kg. Subtract it from the capacity of the roof bars when you work out what else you can carry.
- Fitting: 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-track fittings, included. The 80 mm U-bolt fitting is optional.
- Opens on one side, with a lock included in the specification.
- Material: ABS, colour: matt black.
- Before driving with the box fitted, check the total height of the car, especially in car parks and at barriers.
