For this Land Rover Range Rover Evoque L538 5-door, from the facelift series, we chose black roof bars Menabo Delta Black, clamped onto the body with a dedicated kit. The fitting was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Range Rover Evoque L538 facelift

The Range Rover Evoque L538 was built between 2011 and 2018 and was the first Evoque, built on the LR-MS platform. The car in this fitting is from the facelift series, which came with the 2016 model year. At the start of that model year the 3-door Coupé was discontinued, while the 5-door and the Convertible continued until the 2018 model year. Among the visible differences, the facelift has the fog lights set higher up and a slimmer rear light above the rear window.

The Evoque has an aluminium roof and bonnet and, on the cars in our fittings, no roof rails. So any set of roof bars needs fixings on the body made for this model. The Land Rover manual allows 75 kg on the roof on the road and 50 kg off-road for factory-approved roof bars. With roof bars from other makers, the weight of the set is subtracted from this load.

What we fitted on this Evoque facelift

We fitted the the Menabo Delta Black roof bars for the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque L538, 5-door, 2011-2018, from the newer Delta range, with an improved aerodynamic design. The roof bars are black aluminium, 1,370 mm long, with a wide profile of 60 mm.

On top they have a 20 mm T-track, so accessories with T fitting fix directly, while those with U-bolt fitting attach around the bar. On the Delta you can fit bike racks, roof boxes, ski & snowboard racks or a kayak rack. The pack contains 2 bars, 4 feet, 4 fitting kits for the Evoque, 4 lock cylinders with keys and the Allen key.

Technical details and what to watch for

• Menabo Delta Black specifications: length 1,370 mm, height 30 mm, width 60 mm, black aluminium, 20 mm T-track, lockable, TÜV and ISO certified.
• Maximum load: 50 kg. The set weighs 5.6 kg.
• Load on the Evoque roof with Delta roof bars: 75 kg - 5.6 kg = 69.4 kg according to the manual, but the limit that applies is the 50 kg of the roof bars.
• Example: a 5 kg ski rack on the Delta roof bars leaves 45 kg for skis, within the limit of the roof bars.
• The Evoque manual asks for the load to be spread evenly, not to extend beyond the roof bars, and for the fixings to be checked after the first 50 km.
• The instruction manual is included in the roof bar pack.
