About the car: Renault Austral, first generation, pre-facelift version
The Renault Austral is a 5-door C-segment compact SUV that replaced the Kadjar. The car is on the Renault-Nissan alliance CMF-CD platform, and production began in July 2022 at the Palencia plant in Spain. The facelift was presented on 2 April 2025, so the car in this fitting is the pre-facelift version.
On the roof, the Austral comes in two versions: without roof rails, where the fixing points are visible once you open the doors, or with roof rails, where the fixing inserts are on the rails. The Renault manual, in the 2024-2025 edition, gives a maximum roof load of 80 kg, including the carrier, meaning the roof bars and the box. Before fitting, check which version your roof is.
What we fitted on this Austral
We fitted the Menabo Mania 460 ABS Black roof box, with a volume of 460 litres, made of glossy black ABS plastic. The box has a maximum load of 75 kg and weighs 20.2 kg. It opens on one side, and the box has a lock.
The Mania 460 attaches with a 60 mm U-bolt or a 20 mm T-track fitting, both included in the pack. The product page also lists compatibility with the Menabo Tema, Delta and K39 roof bars, but on the Renault Austral the version of the roof decides which roof bars are suitable, so check before you buy.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Volume and load: 460 litres and a maximum of 75 kg of luggage in the box.
- Austral roof: 80 kg in total, including the roof bars and the box. First deduct the weight of the roof bars, then the 20.2 kg of the box; what remains is for luggage.
