Renault Clio IV Grandtour with Menabo Sherman Silver roof bars and Menabo Mania 320 roof box

On a Renault Clio IV Grandtour we fitted Menabo Sherman Silver roof bars, attached to the roof rails, and a Menabo Mania 320 White roof box. The fitting was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Renault Clio IV Grandtour (X98)

The Renault Clio Grandtour is the estate of the Clio IV generation, internal code X98, and followed the hatchback in March 2013. It has five doors and factory roof rails integrated into the body line, and after the facelift of September 2016 the roof rails came in matt chrome. For the Clio 4 phase 2 (2016-2020), the Renault manual gives a maximum roof load of 80 kg, including the carrier, on a general page for the Clio 4.

For us, the roof rails of the Grandtour change the choice of roof bars completely. You do not need a kit on the door frames as on the hatchback, but bars that clamp directly onto the roof rails. The Menabo Sherman set chosen for the Clio IV Sporter / Grand Tourer fits exactly this type of roof, on the car's roof rails.

What we fitted on this Clio Grandtour

We used Menabo Sherman Silver roof bars for the Renault Clio IV Sporter / Grand Tourer 2013-2019, an improved version of the older Menabo Brio. They are made of aluminium, with an aerodynamic oval profile, 1,200 mm long, 27 mm high and 47 mm wide. They have a full-length 20 mm T-track, a lock and a maximum load of 90 kg. They are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 tested and comply with DIN 75302. The set contains 2 bars, 4 pre-assembled feet and an Allen key.

On them we fixed Menabo Mania 320 ABS White roof box, made of gloss white ABS plastic, with a volume of 320 litres and a maximum load of 50 kg. It has a lock and opens on one side. The package includes the 60 mm U-bolt fitting, and for the 20 mm T-track of the Sherman bars there is an optional adapter, item no. 000120100000. The box data sheet lists the Menabo Sherman bars as compatible.

Useful details for this fitting

• Menabo Sherman Silver: 1,200 mm long, 27 x 47 mm profile, aluminium, 20 mm T-track, maximum 90 kg.
• Menabo Mania 320 White: 320 litres, maximum load 50 kg, 60 mm U-bolt fitting included.
• Although the bars carry 90 kg, on the Clio 4 the limit in the Renault manual is 80 kg, including the bars. The lower value applies.
