About the car: roof boxes on roof bars
The boxes in this article are not tied to a specific car model. They fit onto the roof bars of the car, and the bars must be compatible with the fitting system of the box. Menabo Marathon 400 is compatible with Menabo Tema Steel and Aluminium bars, Tiger and Delta, as well as Thule SlideBar bars, according to the product page.
The type of bars matters as much as the car. The weight of the box is deducted from the capacity of the bars: with bars that carry 75 kg, an 18 kg Diamond 450 box leaves 57 kg for luggage.
The roof boxes in our range
The Menabo Marathon Dark 400 box has 400 litres and is made of matt black ABS. It weighs 13.2 kg and carries 50 kg. It has a 60 mm U-bolt fitting and a 20 mm T-bolt fitting included in the box, and the 80 mm U-bolt system is optional. It opens on one side and has an anti-theft lock.
Menabo Diamond 450 Black and Diamond 450 White have 450 litres and carry 75 kg. Each weighs 18 kg, fixes with a 20 mm T-bolt Quick Fix system and is TÜV tested. The difference between them is the colour: glossy black or glossy white.
Fabbri SuperNova 500 White has 500 litres, carries 75 kg and opens on both sides. It is 198 cm long and 80 cm wide, with a quick-fix system, and weighs 16.8 kg. The MatBox Dark 320 has 320 litres, carries 50 kg, weighs 8.6 kg and is 128 cm long and 90 cm wide.

Technical details and what to watch for
- The weight of the box is deducted from the capacity of the bars: Marathon 400 weighs 13.2 kg, Diamond 450 weighs 18 kg, SuperNova 500 weighs 16.8 kg and MatBox 320 weighs 8.6 kg.
- The height of the box adds to the height of the car. The boxes in this article are around 36-38 cm high, so measure the total height before underground car parks or garages.
- The opening matters when parking: Marathon 400, Diamond 450 and MatBox 320 open on one side, while SuperNova 500 opens on both sides.
- The instruction manual is included in the box for each roof box in this article. For Marathon 400 and Diamond 450, you will find the fitting instructions as PDFs.
- For heavy luggage, place the weight towards the middle of the box and secure it with straps. The total load, that is luggage plus box, must not exceed either the limit of the box or that of the bars.
