About the car: Seat Arona, generation 1 (KJ7)

The Seat Arona is a 5-door subcompact SUV, built since 2017 and still in production. It has the same Volkswagen Group MQB A0 platform as the Ibiza, and the facelift was presented on 15 April 2021. The generation code is KJ7.

The Arona has roof rails on the roof, so the roof bars are fitted on them, not on the water channels built into the roof, where classic bars cannot be fixed. The Seat manual (UK edition MY25) recommends 75 cm between the roof bars and 5 cm between the bars and the supports of the roof rails. On the roof, the permitted load is 75 kg, including the bars, the roof rack and the load, without exceeding the axle loads or the maximum mass. If the bars or the roof rack have a lower load rating, their limit is respected.

What we fitted on this Seat Arona

We fitted the Menabo Tiger Black roof bars for the Seat Arona 2017+. They are made of aluminium, black, with an oval, aerodynamic profile that helps reduce noise and air resistance. Each bar has a 20 mm T-track along the full length for the T-profile fitting.

The set suits bike racks, ski racks, roof boxes and kayak or canoe carriers. Note that the rack fixes to the bar, and the bike fixes to the rack, not directly to the bar.

The bars carry 75 kg, are tested to TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 and comply with DIN 75302. The weight of the fitted accessory (rack, box, luggage) is deducted from the 75 kg, and the rest remains for the bike or luggage.
