Menabo Tema roof bars for the Seat Toledo generation 4 (KG), 5-door

On the Seat Toledo we fitted a set of Menabo Tema roof bars, in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania. The car is a 5-door liftback without roof rails, so the bars fix directly to the bodywork.

About the car: Seat Toledo, generation 4 (KG)

The 4th-generation Seat Toledo (type KG) went on sale at the end of 2012, and production ended in February 2019. It is a 5-door liftback built on an adaptation of the A05+ (PQ25) platform. The car has no factory roof rails.

The roof has mounting points for the basic roof rack, at the front and at the rear, but the Tema bars fix directly to the bodywork through their own fitting kit. The Seat Toledo manual (UK edition, 11.14) gives a roof load of 75 kg, which includes the fixing system, without exceeding the maximum permitted weight. The Tema bars carry only 50 kg, however, so this is the limit that counts.

What we fitted on this Seat Toledo

We fitted the Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars for the Seat Toledo, 5-door. They have an oval, aerodynamic profile, the metal parts are treated with rubberised paint and an anti-corrosion coating, and the top has a 20 mm T-track for accessories with a T fitting. The bars have TÜV and ISO approvals and suit bike racks, ski racks and roof boxes.

The set contains 2 bars, 4 fixing systems, 4 feet, 4 locks with keys and an Allen key. If your accessory has no T fitting, you can use a U-bolt fitting around the outside of the bar. For the steps to fit the rack on the bars, see the guide on our blog.

Technical details and what to watch for

• Load capacity: 50 kg on the bars. The weight of the fitted accessory (rack, box, luggage) must stay within this limit.
• Dimensions: 1,300 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide, aluminium, with a 20 mm T-track on top.
• Set: 2 roof bars, 4 fixing systems, 4 feet, 4 locks with keys and an Allen key.
• Fixing: the bars fit to the bodywork with the fitting kit made for the car. If the accessory has a U-bolt fitting, it fits on the outside of the bar.
• Height: with the bars and the accessory fitted, the car becomes taller. Measure before entering a garage or an underground car park.
• After fitting, check the fixings and that the rear lights and the number plate stay visible, especially if you fit a rack on the bars.
• The instruction manual is included in the box.
