We equipped a Suzuki SX4 S-Cross JY facelift with roof rails with a set of Menabo Tiger Black roof bars and a 400 L Menabo Marathon Dark roof box. The fitting was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Suzuki SX4 S-Cross JY (facelift 2016+)
The Suzuki SX4 S-Cross JY was built between 2013 and 2021 by Magyar Suzuki in Esztergom, as a 5-door SUV on the Suzuki Global C platform. The facelift version, launched in September 2016, is recognised by its new front, new rear lights, new alloy wheels and more efficient headlights. We worked on this generation here, on a car with roof rails.
For a large roof box, the type of roof decides both the fitting and the weight limit. On the SX4 S-Cross with roof rails, the official Suzuki catalogue gives a maximum roof load of 75 kg, with the original Multi Roof Rack, compared with 50 kg on cars without roof rails. The Tiger Black bars are also rated at 75 kg, and the 13.2 kg Marathon box plus 50 kg of luggage stays under this limit.
What we fitted on this SX4 S-Cross
We started from Menabo Tiger Black roof bars for Suzuki SX4 S-Cross 2016+: black aluminium, 1,200 mm long, 48 x 28 mm oval profile and a 20 mm T-track along the whole length. Unlike the Silver version, the Tiger Black has no lock.
On the roof bars we put the the Menabo Marathon Dark 400 roof box, made of matt black ABS plastic, with a volume of 400 L, a maximum load of 50 kg, a lock and opening on one side. The box comes with two fittings included, a 60 mm U-bolt and a 20 mm T-bolt, so on the Tiger bars it can be fitted directly in the T-track. The box weighs 13.2 kg itself.

Useful details for this fitting
- Menabo Tiger Black bars: 1,200 x 48 x 28 mm, aluminium, tested to TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006, compliant with DIN 75302, no lock.
- Weight calculation: 75 kg bar capacity minus the 13.2 kg Marathon box leaves 61.8 kg, but the box accepts a maximum of 50 kg, so the real limit for luggage is 50 kg.
- The Suzuki catalogue gives 75 kg on the roof for the SX4 S-Cross with roof rails; if the car's handbook shows a different value, follow the lower one.
- For the Marathon box there is also an optional 80 mm U-bolt system, code 000065000000.
