About the car: Toyota Prius III (XW30)

The third-generation Toyota Prius has the internal code XW30 and was built from March 2009 to 2016, on the Toyota New MC platform. The body is a 5-door fastback or liftback. The model received a facelift in 2011, for the 2012 model year, and it was launched in the UK in August 2009.

The car in this fitting is a dark grey XW30 facelift, with vertical LED lights in the front bumper. The roof is normal, without roof rails, and the Menabo Tema bars attach with clamps on the door frames. That is why the type of roof matters: the vehicle-specific system fits directly on the roof, and the Mania box is then fixed on the bars that are already fitted.

The bar set is Menabo Tema Steel for the Toyota Prius III (XW30), 5-door, 2009-2015 model. The bars are 1,300 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide, made of steel with a rubberised anti-corrosion coating. They have no T-track on top, so accessories are fixed with standard U-bolts around the outside of the bar.

The box is the Menabo Mania 320 ABS Black, with a volume of 320 L, made of gloss black ABS plastic, opening on one side and with an anti-theft lock. Technical details and what to watch for

• Menabo Tema Steel bars are 1,300 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide, and the set weighs 5.8 kg.
• The maximum load of the Tema Steel bars is 50 kg, and the set includes 4 fitting kits and 4 locks with keys.
• The weight of the box itself is deducted from the 50 kg limit of the bars, and the rest remains for luggage.
• The Tema bars have no T-track on top, so the Mania box is fixed around the outside of the bar, with the 60 mm U-bolt fitting.
• The Mania box has a volume of 320 L and an anti-theft lock, and it opens on one side.
• Before a trip with the box fitted, check the total height of the car, especially at covered or underground car parks.
• After the first few kilometres, check that the box does not move on the bars and tighten the fittings again.
