Volkswagen T-Cross generation 1: Menabo Sherman Silver roof bars and Menabo Mania 400 roof box

We fitted Menabo Sherman Silver roof bars and a Menabo Mania 400 roof box on a Volkswagen T-Cross in the SuportBicicleta.ro shop at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Volkswagen T-Cross, generation 1 (C11)

The Volkswagen T-Cross is a 5-door SUV of generation 1, with model code C11. Production started in December 2018, the official launch was in April 2019, and the model received a facelift in 2023. For Europe it is built at the Volkswagen Navarra plant in Pamplona, Spain. In Menabo product titles it appears as 1C.

The Menabo Sherman Silver bars attach to the car's roof rails, so the roof type matters when you choose the bars. The Mania 400 box then fixes onto the roof bars, and the way the bars attach decides which accessories you can fit.

What we fitted on this T-Cross

We fitted the Menabo Sherman Silver roof bars for the Volkswagen T-Cross (1C) 2018+. They are made of aluminium, are 1,200 mm long and come pre-assembled in the packaging. The set has 2 bars, 4 pre-assembled feet and an Allen key.

On the bars we fitted the Menabo Mania 400 roof box, in gloss white, with a capacity of 400 L. The box has a lock, comes with 60 mm U-bolt fittings and 20 mm T-bolt fittings, and is compatible with Menabo Sherman bars.

Technical details and what to watch for

• Fitting the Sherman Silver bars: you fix them to the roof rails with the Allen key from the package. The instruction manual is included in the package. The maximum load can differ depending on the car, so check your car's technical specifications.
• Accessories on the bar: the 20 mm T-track takes accessories with T-bolt fittings. Accessories with U-bolt fittings attach around the outside of the bar.
• Capacity: the bars carry 90 kg, and the Mania 400 box carries 75 kg of luggage. The weight of the box is deducted from the maximum load of the bars, and you will find the maximum roof load of the car in the car's manual.
• Height: the box is 36 cm high. Once it is fitted, the car is taller, so keep height barriers and garages in mind.
