About the car: Volkswagen Touran II (5T)

The Touran II (5T) is a 5-door MPV, built on the MQB platform. Production ran from 2015 to April 2026, when Wolfsburg stopped the Touran after 11 years.

The Touran II has roof rails on the roof, and the Sherman Silver XL roof bars are fitted on them. For a 580-litre box, a length of over 2 metres matters: before entering garages or car parks with a barrier, measure the total height of the car with the box fitted and check the roof load limit in the car's manual.

What we fitted on this Touran II (5T)

The Menabo Sherman Silver XL roof bars are 1,350 mm long, 27 mm high and 47 mm wide. They are made of aluminium and have a 20 mm T-track along the whole length for T-track fitting. They have a maximum load of 90 kg. The set includes two bars, four fixing systems pre-assembled on the roof bars, the Allen key and an anti-theft lock.

The Menabo Mania 580 ABS Black roof box holds 580 litres, is made of glossy black ABS and opens on one side. It has a maximum load of 75 kg, an anti-theft lock and attaches with the Quick Fixing system, with the clamp included in the pack. The 20 mm T-track fitting is optional.

Technical details and what to watch for

The Mania 580 box is 89 cm wide and 36 cm high on the outside, and its volume is 580 litres.
The weight of the empty box is deducted from the maximum load of the roof bars, so allow for it together with your luggage.
Load heavy luggage in the middle of the box, close to the roof bars, and do not cram it into one end.
With the box fitted, the car is taller. Measure before garages or car parks with a barrier.

The Allen key in the pack is enough to fit the roof bars, and no other tool is needed. Check the tightness of the Quick Fixing clamp after the first kilometres.
