About the car: first-generation Volvo XC90 (P2)
The first-generation Volvo XC90, on the P2 platform, was built from August 2002 to 2014, and production in Sweden ended at the end of 2014. It is a 5-door SUV with 5 or 7 seats. For the 2012 model year, LED tail lights became available on certain versions, and the car in this fitting has vertical LED tail lights on the D-pillar, so it falls into this version. It also has a towbar fitted.
The car in this fitting has raised roof rails, visible in the photos, and the roof bars are attached to them. This type of roof matters when choosing the rack: the roof bars must be compatible with the roof rails, and the skis are loaded on top of the car, so the total height increases. This matters especially at car parks with barriers and in garages.
What we fitted on this XC90
We fitted the rack Menabo Iceberg 4 on roof bars, the version for 4 pairs of skis or 2 snowboards. The rack has a loading area of 38 cm, is made of silver aluminium and measures 490 x 130 x 70 mm. It weighs 1.5 kg.
The rack has a lock for the rack and a lock for the equipment, so the skis and snowboards are better protected when you leave the car parked. On the product page you will also find a video presenting the rack.

Useful fitting details
- Capacity: 4 pairs of skis or 2 snowboards, with a maximum load of 24 kg.
- The weight of the rack, 1.5 kg, is deducted from the maximum load of the roof bars. Check in the roof bar manual how much they can take in total.
- Fitting: 20 mm T-track fitting, for aluminium bars with a T-track. For rectangular steel bars there is an optional kit, the External kit.
- The rack is not height-adjustable, so the skis and snowboards go in the 38 cm loading area.
- It has a lock for the rack and for the equipment.
- Before setting off, check the total height of the car with the skis fitted, especially at underground car parks or those with barriers.
