Thule Allax XS dog crate for boots with raised sill
Thule Allax for boots with a raised sill is the version of the Allax crate designed for cars with a lowered boot floor. Its base is raised, so the door opens smoothly over the boot sill without catching. It fits sills from over 40 mm up to 170 mm in size XS.
As with the standard model, the crate is tested for frontal impact, rear impact and a simulated rollover in the Thule Test Center, and is TÜV SUD certified. Size XS suits dogs up to 42 cm at the withers (for example Miniature Schnauzer, Jack Russell) and a maximum weight of 25 kg.
Protection tested in the Thule Test Center
A deformable zone of 10-13 cm remains between the crate and the rear seat back, even when the crate is set to its minimum depth. In a rear collision, this zone compresses, absorbs part of the impact energy and protects the dog.
Fits your boot, without rattling
The crate depth adjusts between 66 and 72 cm, so you can match it exactly to the length of your boot. Rounded edges follow the shape of the bodywork, and the tension straps keep the crate firmly in place while driving. The anodised aluminium and tough plastic construction does not creak or vibrate on the road.
Everyday use
The window and side openings let you check on your dog at any time and keep air circulating. The release hatch lets you open the crate from the cabin, from the rear seat, if the tailgate cannot be opened.

How to choose the crate size
Measure the dog's height at the withers, that is the distance from the ground to the top of the shoulder blades. Inside the crate, the dog should be able to sit and stand, turn around and lie down in a natural position. The crate should not be too large, because while driving the dog could slide or be thrown from one side to the other.
- XS: up to 42 cm at the withers (for example Miniature Schnauzer, Jack Russell)
- S: up to 50 cm (Beagle, Cocker Spaniel)
- M and M Compact: up to 57 cm (Border Collie, Australian Shepherd)
- L Compact: up to 61 cm (Labrador Retriever, Dalmatian)
Every dog is different, so use these figures as a starting point. You know your dog best and how it travels.
Check that it fits your car
- Depth: measure from the rear seat back to the edge of the boot floor. On hatchbacks and SUVs, also check where the tailgate starts to slope.
- Height: measure from the boot floor to the lowest point of the tailgate or the roof. Watch out for low roof edges, which can block the crate.
- Boot sill: this version is for sills over 40 mm (up to 170 mm on XS, and up to 245 mm on S, M Compact, M and L Compact). For boots without a sill, or with a sill up to 40 mm, choose the standard Thule Allax.
Note: Before buying, check that the crate can be fitted correctly in your car. The Thule Allax is intended solely for transporting dogs. Get your dog used to the crate before the first journey, and never leave it unattended in the car.
