On a 4-door Audi A4 B7 we fitted the Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars and, above them, the Menabo Marathon Dark 400 roof box. The fitting was done by the SuportBicicleta.ro team in our shop at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Audi A4 B7 saloon (2004-2007)
The Audi A4 B7 is the extensive facelift of the B6, launched at the end of 2004 on the same PL46 platform. The saloon carries the internal code 8EC, the Avant 8ED and the Cabriolet 8HE, and the feature that distinguishes it from the B6 is the tall trapezoidal grille. Production of the B7 continued until 2009, and from 2008 the body lived on under the name SEAT Exeo.
For a roof box, the B7 saloon has one particular feature: the roof has no roof rails, so the base of the whole system is roof bars fixed on the door frames. How much weight you can put on the roof depends on them, so on this A4 we used the Tema kit made for the A4 4-door 2004-2007, and the load is calculated starting from the capacity of the bars, not only from that of the box.
What we fitted on this Audi A4 saloon
The Menabo Tema Aluminium bars for Audi A4 (B7/8E/8H), 4-door have an aerodynamic oval profile, a length of 1,120 mm, a height of 30 mm and a width of 48 mm. They carry a maximum of 50 kg, have a 20 mm T-track for accessories with a T-bolt fitting and come with 4 anti-theft locks with keys and an Allen key.
The Menabo Marathon Dark 400 roof box has 400 litres and a maximum capacity of 50 kg, is made of matt black ABS plastic and weighs 13.2 kg. It opens on one side, the right, and has a lock. The box comes with both 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-bolt fittings, and an 80 mm U-bolt fitting is optional, item 000065000000. The product page of the box lists it as compatible with Menabo Tema Aluminium bars, and on them the T-bolt fitting can be used, in the 20 mm T-track of the bar.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Load calculation: the Tema bars carry 50 kg, the Marathon box weighs 13.2 kg, so you can put at most 36.8 kg in the box, even though the box alone is rated for 50 kg.
- Roof load: we do not have an official Audi figure for the A4 B7, so also check the car manual; the bar maker says the limit can vary by model.
- Box fittings: 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-bolt included, 80 mm U-bolt optional (item 000065000000).
- Opening: on the right-hand side, that is, towards the pavement when you park on the right of the road.
- Instructions: on the site the box has the fitting PDFs and the Menabo Mania/Marathon 400L-460L specifications; for the bars, the manual comes in the box.
