About the car: BMW X5 F15 (2013-2018)
The code F15 designates the third generation of the BMW X5, built between April 2013 and July 2018 on the BMW L4 platform. The body is a 5-door SUV, with 5 seats or optionally 7. The generation had no classic facelift, but for the 2017-2018 model years it received the new iDrive with touchscreen. The BMW press release for the X5 xDrive25d F15 states a maximum roof load of 100 kg and 140 kg on the towbar.
On this car, the roof rails are integrated into the roof, so the roof bars need a fitting made for them. The Lince Silver XL version for the X5 F15 2015-2018 contains everything needed for fitting onto rail-type roof rails. Not every X5 F15 has roof rails: on a roof without them, bars that fix to the body are used, so it is worth checking before you order.
What we fitted on this BMW X5 F15
We fitted the the Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars for BMW X5 (F15) 2015-2018, aluminium bars with a wing-shaped profile and an 8 cm section, which helps reduce noise and air resistance. Along the whole length they have a 20 mm T-track for T-track fittings, so they take roof boxes, bike racks, ski racks or kayak carriers.
The set has everything needed for fitting onto the integrated rails: 2 bars of 1,350 mm, 4 feet, 4 locks with keys and an Allen key, the only tool needed. The bars carry a maximum of 90 kg and are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 approved. There is no PDF manual for them on the site, but the instruction manual is included in the package.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Menabo Lince Silver XL bar dimensions: 1,350 mm long, 30 mm high, 80 mm wide, silver aluminium.
- Maximum load: 90 kg on the bars; the BMW data sheet for the X5 F15 allows 100 kg on the roof, so the limit of the bars is the one that counts.
- Useful calculation: subtract the weight of the accessory fitted on the bars from 90 kg, and the difference is what you can actually load.
- 20 mm T-track along the whole length, for accessories with T-track fittings; the set has 4 locks with keys.
