About the car: BMW X5 (G05), the generation launched in 2018

The BMW X5 G05 is the fourth generation of the X5, launched in 2018 as the successor to the X5 F15, with production from August 2018. It uses the CLAR platform, shared with the 7 Series G11 and the 5 Series G30, and since March 2023 the facelift (LCI) version has been built, with redesigned headlights and tail lights. It is a 5-door, 5-seat SUV, with 7 seats when the optional third row is fitted.

The Lince Silver XL roof bars for the X5 G05 fit onto the integrated rail-type roof rails, so the car must have these rails from the factory. The roof load matters too: according to the 2018 BMW technical data, the X5 G05 has 100 kg on the roof for the xDrive40i, xDrive50i, xDrive30d and M50d, and the roof bars, the box and the luggage all count towards these 100 kg. For the 2023 facelift, confirm the value in the car's owner's manual.

What we fitted on this BMW X5

The base of the fitting is the Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars for BMW X5 (G05) 2019+, made of aluminium, 1,350 mm long, with an aerodynamic wing profile, 80 mm wide and 30 mm tall. They have a 20 mm T-track channel along the full length, carry a maximum of 90 kg and are TÜV approved and tested to ISO/PAS 11154:2006. The set has 4 lock cylinders with keys and is fitted only with the Allen key supplied.

On the roof bars we put the Menabo Mania 460 ABS Black roof box: 460 litres, 75 kg load capacity, gloss black ABS shell, lockable and opening on the right. It weighs 20.2 kg, comes with 60 mm U-bolt and 20 mm T-bolt fittings and is compatible with Menabo Lince roof bars, so it fixes straight into the 20 mm channel.
