Dacia Duster II (HM) with Menabo Brio roof bars and Menabo Diamond 500 roof box

On a Dacia Duster II (HM) we fitted Menabo Brio roof bars and a long, roomy roof box, the 500-litre Menabo Diamond 500 Black. We did the fitting in the SuportBicicleta.ro shop at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Dacia Duster II (HM)

The HM generation of the Dacia Duster debuted in Frankfurt in September 2017 and reached the Romanian market in November 2017. It is a 5-door crossover SUV built on the B0+ platform, produced for Europe from 2017 to 2024. In 2021 it received a facelift, presented on 22 June and put on sale in September, recognisable by the new light signature. In our catalogue, the Menabo bars for this Duster are listed as Duster III 2018-2023.

The roof of the Duster HM comes with factory roof rails, according to the 2018 Dacia brochure: black on Essential and Comfort and with a satin chrome look on Prestige. When you put a long box of over 2 m on the roof bars, pay attention to the 75 kg roof limit in the same brochure, which applies to all engines.

What we fitted on this Duster

Under the box are the Menabo Brio roof bars for the Dacia Duster 2018-2023: two 1,200 mm aluminium bars, with a 48 x 28 mm aerodynamic profile and a full-length 14 mm channel. The 4 fittings come pre-assembled and tighten onto the roof rails with the Allen key from the package. The bars have a lock, carry a maximum of 90 kg and are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 tested.

On top we fitted the Menabo Diamond 500 Black roof box, in gloss black. It has 500 litres and a length of about 209 cm, in the class of boxes over 200 cm, carries a maximum of 75 kg and weighs 19.6 kg. It attaches with the 20 mm T Quick Fix system, which is included, opens on one side and has an integrated lock. The box is TÜV tested and City Crash tested.

For fixing it on the Brio bars, check with us before you order which version suits, because there is also an optional Quick Fix clip.

Technical details and what to watch for

Menabo Diamond 500 Black: 500 litres, about 209 cm long (over 200 cm class), maximum 75 kg, 19.6 kg own weight, gloss black ABS, lock.
Menabo Brio: 2 aluminium bars of 1,200 mm, 14 mm channel, 4 pre-assembled fittings, lock, maximum 90 kg, DIN 75302 compliant.
Calculation for the Duster II: 75 kg on the roof (2018 Dacia brochure) minus the 19.6 kg of the box gives 55.4 kg, from which you still deduct the weight of the bars. The rest is the load you can actually put in the box.
The box is about 36 cm high, so together with the 28 mm bars it adds almost 39 cm above the roof rails, plus the height of the fittings.
The Brio bars have no PDF manual on the site, but the instructions come in the package.
