Menabo Mistral tailgate bike rack for Fiat Bravo 5-door (2007-2014)

We fitted the Menabo Mistral tailgate-mounted bike rack on a Fiat Bravo in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania. This type of rack does not need roof bars, because it attaches directly to the tailgate.

About the car: Fiat Bravo (Type 198)

The Fiat Bravo with the code Type 198 is a compact car built by Fiat between 2007 and 2014. It was launched on 21 April 2007, and European production at Cassino stopped in July 2014. It is available as a 5-door hatchback, on the Fiat C2 platform. The car in this fitting is silver, with oval rear lights and the Bravo lettering on the tailgate.

Technical details and what to watch for

• The rack carries 3 bikes, and the limit is 45 kg in total. If each bike weighs 12 kg, the three come to 36 kg, so they stay under the limit.
• Before fitting, clean the tailgate, so that the contact points sit well on the bodywork.
• After fitting, check that the rack sits firmly by trying to move it from side to side, and that the pedals or bar ends of the bikes do not touch the bodywork.
• With bikes on the tailgate, check that you are not covering the number plate and rear lights, and check the lights before you set off.
