About the car: Ford Kuga III (C482), since 2019
The third-generation Ford Kuga, code C482, debuted on 2 April 2019 and is the first Ford SUV built on the C2 platform, the same as the current Focus. For Europe it is built in Valencia, Spain, from 2019 to the present, and in January 2024 the model received a facelift.
The Kuga in this fitting has no roof rails, so the roof bars sit on feet fixed to the edge of the doors. The Ford manual for the Kuga III allows 75 kg on the roof, or 60 kg with a panoramic roof, with the load spread evenly over the roof bars. The Tema bars weigh 5.2 kg and are rated for 50 kg, which is 55.2 kg in total, under both limits; here the limit that matters is that of the bars.
What we fitted on this Ford Kuga III
Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars are designed for cars without factory-fitted roof rails and fit directly onto the bodywork, with fixings made for the model. The profile is oval and aerodynamic, the bar is 1,300 mm long, 30 mm high and 48 mm wide, and the set includes 4 locks with keys. As the fixings are specific to each car, we confirm the right version before you order.
On the roof bars we put the Menabo Marathon Dark 400 roof box, 400 litres, made of matt black ABS, compatible with Menabo Tema Aluminium roof bars. Also on the bars we fixed Menabo Juza bike rack, built entirely of aluminium, which holds the bike by the frame and the wheels and accepts frames up to 60 mm wide. It has a lock for the rack and the bike, and on the Tema bars its data sheet confirms compatibility directly only for the aluminium version, the one fitted here.

Technical details and what to watch for
- Calculation on the bars: 13.2 kg box + 3.4 kg rack = 16.6 kg; of the 50 kg of the Tema bars, 33.4 kg remain for the bike and luggage.
- With a 15 kg bike, the maximum Menabo Juza accepts, 18.4 kg remain for the luggage in the box, even though the box alone takes 50 kg.
- The maximum recommended speed for the Juza rack is 130 km/h, the same as Menabo recommends for the bars; details in the guide on roof bars while driving.
- The instruction manual for the Tema Aluminium bars is included in the pack. You will find the fitting instructions for the Marathon Dark 400 box and the Menabo Juza rack below, as PDFs.

Frequently asked questions
Which roof bars go on a Ford Kuga III without roof rails?
On a Ford Kuga III (C482) without roof rails you use bars that fix to the bodywork, such as Menabo Tema Aluminium, whose feet fix to the edge of the doors with a fitting kit made for the model. This is how we equipped the Kuga in this fitting.

Yes, on this Ford Kuga III we fitted both the Menabo Marathon Dark 400 box (13.2 kg) and the Menabo Juza rack (3.4 kg) on the Menabo Tema Aluminium bars. Of the bars' 50 kg capacity, 33.4 kg remain for the bike and luggage.
What bike can the Menabo Juza rack carry?
The Menabo Juza rack carries one bike of up to 15 kg, with a frame no more than 60 mm wide, and suits MTBs and road bikes. For heavy MTBs or bikes with a thick frame see our guide to mountain bike racks.
How much weight can the roof of a Ford Kuga III carry?
The Ford manual gives the Ford Kuga III (C482) a maximum roof load of 75 kg without a panoramic roof and 60 kg with a panoramic roof, with the load spread evenly over the roof bars. On Menabo Tema bars, their own limit of 50 kg is what counts.
