Honda Civic VIII Saloon (FD) with Menabo Delta Silver roof bars and Menabo Mania 320 roof box

A 4-door Honda Civic VIII Saloon left our shop with Menabo Delta Silver roof bars, with the vehicle-specific kit for the 2006-2011 model, and a gloss white Menabo Mania 320 roof box. We did the fitting in our SuportBicicleta.ro shop at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Honda Civic VIII Saloon (FD), 8th generation

The 8th-generation Honda Civic was built from 2005 to 2012, and in China until 2016. The international saloon, with the FD codes (FD1, FD2, FD3, FD4, FD6, FD7), was also sold in a few European countries, alongside the hatchback Civic made for the European market. The bar kit in this fitting is the one for the Civic VIII 4-door Saloon, 2006-2011 models.

The FD saloon has a normal roof without roof rails, so the roof bars need fittings designed for its exact profile. The Menabo Delta system is made for cars like this: the feet sit on the edge of the roof, and the fittings anchor to the door frames.

What we fitted on this Civic VIII Saloon

The first step was the Menabo Delta Silver roof bars for the Honda Civic VIII Saloon: 2 silver aluminium bars of 1,370 mm, with a 60 x 30 mm profile and a 20 mm T-track on top, 4 feet, 4 fitting kits for the Civic, 4 anti-theft locks with keys and an Allen key. The set weighs 5.6 kg, has a maximum load of 50 kg and is TÜV and ISO tested.

On the bars we fitted the Menabo Mania 320 ABS White roof box, made of gloss white ABS plastic, with a volume of 320 L and a load capacity of 50 kg. It has a lock, opens on one side and comes with a 60 mm U-bolt fitting included. The box data sheet lists Menabo Delta bars among those that fit without an adapter; for other bars, an 80 mm U-bolt fitting (item no. 000065000000) or a 20 mm T-track fitting (item no. 000120100000) is available as an option.

Useful details

• Load calculation: the Delta bars carry 50 kg, and the weight of the Mania box itself is deducted first; what is left is what you can put in the box, without going over the 50 kg the box allows.
• The permitted roof load can differ from car to car, so also check the value given by Honda for your Civic.
• With the box on the roof, the total height of the saloon increases noticeably, so watch out for underground car parks, garages and car washes.
• Menabo recommends a speed of no more than 130 km/h with the bars fitted; if you hear a whistling noise while driving, you can move the feet of the bars slightly forwards or backwards, as we explain in the guide to roof bar noise.
• The Delta bars have no PDF instructions on the site, but the manual is included in the package; for the Mania 320 the instructions and specifications are on the product page.
