On a Honda Civic X Saloon (FC) we fitted a set of Menabo Delta roof bars and, on top of them, a Menabo Marathon 400 Silver roof box. We did the fitting in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Honda Civic X Saloon (FC), tenth generation
The tenth-generation Honda Civic was built between 2016 and 2021 and uses the CCA platform. The saloon has the codes FC1, FC2, FC5 and FC6, and the hatchback FK4, FK7 and FK8. In the UK the range started in 2017 with the hatchback, and the saloon joined in 2018. The revised version of the saloon and the coupé was presented in August 2018, for model year 2019 in North America.
The FC saloon has a fastback profile and no roof rails. Without rails on the roof, for a roof box you first need a set of roof bars with fixings made for its bodywork. The fitting photo shows how the bars sit with their feet on the edge of the roof, with the Menabo box above, on the bars.
What we fitted on this Civic X Saloon
The base of the fitting is a set of Menabo Delta roof bars. The Delta system is designed for cars without factory roof rails, like this Civic X Saloon, and the bars fix to the bodywork with dedicated fixings made for the model. On top of the bars we put a Menabo Marathon 400 roof box, in the Silver version. Menabo roof boxes come with fitting instructions and with Allen keys or special keys for tightening the fixings. You will find other models and sizes in the category roof boxes.
Useful details
- The weight of the box and of the luggage adds up and must stay below the capacity of the bars and below the roof load Honda allows for your Civic; always deduct the weight of the box from the capacity of the bars.
- With the box on the roof, the Civic becomes noticeably taller: allow for this at underground car parks, garages and automatic car washes.
- Menabo recommends not exceeding 130 km/h with the bars fitted; if the bars whistle, you can move the feet slightly forward or back, as we explain in the guide to roof bar noise.
