About the car: Hyundai Kona
The Hyundai Kona is a 5-door SUV. The first generation, with the code OS, was built between 2017 and 2023, with a facelift in September 2020. The second generation, with the code SX2, debuted in Europe in April 2023, on the Hyundai-Kia K3 platform, and is about 150 mm longer than the first. For the first generation, the European manual gives a maximum roof load of 80 kg, evenly distributed, and the ADAC catalogue gives 100 kg for the Kona SX2 1.6 GDI Hybrid.
Depending on the trim, the Kona may have roof rails. The Menabo Lince kit is made for the car's flush roof rails, so the type of roof bars depends on the car. Check the year of manufacture and the permitted roof load in the registration document and in the car manual, or contact us and we will check together.
What we fitted on this Hyundai Kona
The base of the fitting is the the Menabo Lince Silver roof bars for Hyundai Kona Hybrid 2019+: aluminium bars, 1,200 mm long, with an aerodynamic wing profile, 80 mm wide and 30 mm high. They have a 20 mm T-track for T-bolt fittings along the full length, carry 90 kg, have locks with keys and are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 approved. The Allen key is included in the package.
On the roof bars we put the Menabo Mania 400 ABS Black roof box, in glossy black ABS plastic. It has a volume of 400 litres, carries 75 kg, opens on the right side and has an anti-theft lock. It comes with a 60 mm U-bolt fitting and a 20 mm T-bolt fitting, and the manufacturer states that it is compatible with Menabo Lince bars.

Technical details and what to watch for
- The load limit on the roof is the lowest of the capacity of the bars (90 kg), that of the box (75 kg) and the load permitted by the car (80 kg for the first generation, 100 kg for the SX2 Hybrid, according to ADAC). The weight of the bars and of the empty box is deducted from the car's limit.
- The Menabo Mania 400 box also accepts an 80 mm U-bolt fitting, optional, with the code 000065000000.
- The Menabo Lince bars have a 20 mm T-track along the full length, so other accessories with T-bolt fittings can be fitted on them too, for example bike racks or ski racks.
- With the box on the roof, the total height of the car increases, so keep this in mind at the entrance to underground car parks, garages or car washes.
