Hyundai Tucson TL facelift with Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars and Menabo Mania roof box

This Hyundai Tucson TL after the facelift received Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars and a Menabo Mania roof box from us. We did the fitting in our SuportBicicleta.ro shop at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Hyundai Tucson 3 (TL) facelift, 2018-2021

The third-generation Tucson (TL) debuted in Geneva in March 2015 and was built until 2021, including in the Czech Republic, at Nosovice. The car in this fitting is the facelift version, presented in 2018 at the New York Auto Show for model year 2019: cascade grille, redesigned bonnet and tailgate, rectangular fuel flap and new wheels. The TL generation is also the one with which Hyundai dropped the ix35 name, and compared with its predecessor it is 65 mm longer and 30 mm wider.

The facelift changed the front and rear, and on the cars we fit, the roof still has integrated roof rails fixed flat to the roof, so the roof bar set for the Tucson TL clamps straight onto them. The Hyundai manual for the 2016 Tucson (US edition) gives 100 kg on the roof rack, with the load evenly distributed, well secured and checked often.

What we fitted on this Tucson TL

We chose the set Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars for Hyundai Tucson (TL) 2015+, with 1,350 mm aluminium bars, designed for the rail-type (integrated) roof rails of the car. The aerodynamic wing profile, 80 mm wide and 30 mm high, reduces noise and drag, and the 20 mm T-track along the full length takes roof boxes and bike, ski or kayak racks.

The Lince Silver XL carries 90 kg and comes with 4 feet for roof rails, 4 locks with keys and an Allen key, the only tool needed. The bars are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 approved. We fitted a Menabo Mania roof box on them, and you can find the box models we have now in the roof boxes.

Technical details and what to watch for

• Menabo Lince Silver XL bars: 1,350 mm long, 80 mm wide, 30 mm high, aluminium, 20 mm T-track.
• Capacity: 90 kg per set. The weight of the box is subtracted from it, and the difference is left for luggage.
• On the Tucson TL the Hyundai manual gives 100 kg on the roof; the bars, box and luggage together must stay below that figure.
• Instructions: the instruction manual is included in the package.
• With the box on the roof, the Tucson becomes taller, so keep that in mind at underground car parks, garages and automatic car washes.
• Menabo recommends not exceeding 130 km/h with the roof bars fitted.
