Hyundai Tucson NX4 (2020+) with Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars on flush roof rails

On a fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson (NX4) with flush roof rails, we fitted a set of Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars. The fitting was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom, which you can now find at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Hyundai Tucson NX4 (fourth generation, from 2020)

The Hyundai Tucson NX4 was presented on 15 September 2020 and uses a shortened version of the N3 platform, the same one the Santa Fe sits on. In Europe the short-wheelbase version of 2,680 mm is sold, assembled in the Czech Republic at Nosovice, and the front can be recognised by the jewel-effect grille with the daytime running lights integrated into it. In December 2023 the facelift came, for model year 2025.

For roof bars, the most important detail is the type of roof. The Tucson NX4 in this fitting has low roof rails integrated in the roof, so we used a kit that attaches directly to them, not to the bodywork. The Hyundai manual for the Tucson NX4 lists a load of 100 kg for the roof rails, evenly distributed, with the advice to drive slowly, to turn carefully and to check the fixing of the load often.

What we fitted on this Tucson NX4

We chose the Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars for Hyundai Tucson NX4 2020+, an aluminium set with an aerodynamic wing-shaped profile and an 8 cm section. The shape of the bar helps reduce noise and drag, and the bars are TÜV and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 approved.

Along the full length of each bar there is a 20 mm T-track for T-bolt fittings, so roof boxes, bike racks, ski racks or a kayak carrier can be fitted on them later. The package contains 2 bars, 4 feet for roof rails, 4 locks with keys and an Allen key.

Technical details and tips

• Dimensions of a Menabo Lince Silver XL bar: length 1,350 mm, height 30 mm, width 80 mm, aluminium, silver.
• The maximum load of the bars is 90 kg, and Hyundai allows 100 kg on the Tucson NX4 roof rails. So the limit you work to for the load on the bars remains 90 kg.
• The weight of the accessory is deducted from the load capacity of the bars: from the 90 kg of the Lince bars you first deduct the weight of the box or racks, and the rest is left for luggage, within the capacity of the box.
• The weight of the Lince bar set also counts towards the 100 kg Hyundai allows on the Tucson NX4 roof rails, not just that of the box and the luggage.
• After fitting, the car is taller: measure the total height with the bars and accessories on the roof before entering underground car parks or garages.
• The product has no PDF instructions on the site, but the fitting manual is included in the package.
