Kia Sportage NQ5 with Menabo Lince Silver XL Roof Bars and Menabo Mania 460 Roof Box

We fitted Menabo Lince Silver XL roof bars, with a maximum load of 90 kg, and a Menabo Mania 460 ABS Black roof box on a Kia Sportage NQ5. The work was done in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom, which you can now find at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Kia Sportage NQ5 (from 2021)

The Kia Sportage NQ5 was designed in two lengths, depending on the market. The European version, announced in September 2021, has a body 135 mm shorter and a wheelbase 75 mm shorter than the international version, and it is also built in Zilina, Slovakia. On 5 November 2024 Kia launched the facelift for model year 2026, with new headlights in place of the boomerang ones.

The car in the post has silver roof rails, and the Menabo roof bars attach to them, not to the doors. For a high-capacity set of roof bars like the Lince Silver XL, the real limit still comes from the car: the official Kia manual allows 100 kg on the roof of the Sportage NQ5, evenly distributed, including the roof bars and the box.

What we fitted on this Kia Sportage NQ5

The Menabo Lince Silver XL has two silver aluminium bars of 1,350 mm, with a wing-shaped profile 80 mm wide and 30 mm high. It has a maximum load of 90 kg, a 20 mm T-track for T-track fitting and comes with 4 fittings for roof rails, 4 locks with keys and the Allen key. It is TÜV tested and tested to ISO/PAS 11154:2006.

The Menabo Mania 460 ABS Black is made of glossy black ABS, holds 460 litres, has a maximum load of 75 kg and weighs 20.2 kg. It opens on the right, has an anti-theft lock and comes with 60 mm U-bolts and 20 mm T-track fittings. On its product sheet, the Menabo Lince roof bars are listed as compatible.

Useful details

Calculation for the bars: 90 kg maximum load minus 20.2 kg for the empty box leaves 69.8 kg of luggage; that is less than the 75 kg of the box, so the bars set the limit.
On the roof: the bars, the 20.2 kg box and 69.8 kg of luggage come to at most 95 kg, so under the 100 kg limit in the Kia Sportage NQ5 manual.
The 1,350 mm bars are the XL version of the Lince range, with a maximum load of 90 kg.
Through the 20 mm T-track, the box can be attached with the 20 mm T-track fittings from the pack.
With the box on the roof, check the total height of the Sportage before entering underground car parks.
