About the car: Kia Sportage NQ5 (from 2021)
The Sportage NQ5 is the 5th generation of the Kia SUV, built on the N3 platform. Europe received a short-wheelbase version, announced in September 2021, 135 mm shorter and with the wheelbase reduced by 75 mm compared with the international model, also built in Zilina, Slovakia. The facelift for the 2026 model year, launched on 5 November 2024, replaced the boomerang headlights with new ones.
The roof of this Sportage NQ5 has low silver roof rails, almost flush with the roof, on which the feet of the Menabo bars attach. For loading, the limit in the official Kia manual matters: 100 kg on the roof, evenly distributed across the roof bars. With a compact box like the Carbon Look 320L, which carries a maximum of 55 kg, you stay under this limit even with the box full.
What we fitted on this Sportage NQ5
The Menabo Tiger Black are made of black aluminium, with an oval profile 48 mm wide and 28 mm high, and 1200 mm long. They carry 75 kg, have a 20 mm track for T-track fitting and are TÜV tested and ISO/PAS 11154:2006 approved, in accordance with DIN 75302. The set has no lock; the fittings come pre-assembled and are tightened with the Allen key supplied.
On them we fitted the Carbon Look 320L roof box, matt black with a carbon texture. It has 320 litres, is 131 cm long and 34 cm high, carries a maximum of 55 kg, opens on the right and has a lock. Its data sheet lists it as compatible with the Menabo Tiger bars.

Useful details
- The limit that matters here is that of the box: the Carbon Look 320L carries 55 kg, and the 75 kg Tiger Black bars have plenty of margin even after you deduct the weight of the empty box.
