Kia Sportage SL (2010-2015) with Menabo Biki tailgate bike rack

We fitted a Menabo Biki tailgate-mounted bike rack on a third-generation (SL) 5-door Kia Sportage. We did the fitting in the SuportBicicleta.ro showroom at Drumul Lunca Corbului 2, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania.

About the car: Kia Sportage SL (2010-2015)

The Kia Sportage SL is the third generation of the model, built between March 2010 and August 2015 and launched in Europe in April 2010. For the European market it was also assembled in Zilina, Slovakia, and for the 2014 model year it received a facelift with a new grille and LED rear lights. The Hyundai Tucson (LM) was built on the same technical base.

The Sportage SL is a 5-door SUV, so it has a large tailgate at the back, and the car in this post also has silver roof rails. A tailgate rack does not need roof bars, though: it sits on the rear door, is tightened with straps, and when you no longer need it you take it off and fold it.

What we fitted on this Sportage SL

The Menabo Biki is made of steel and has room for up to 3 bikes, with a maximum total weight of 45 kg. The bikes hang by the frame on arms with bumps, it works with any frame diameter and it is also compatible with fat bikes. E-bikes are not compatible with this model.

The rack has 6 fixing points on the bodywork and weighs 4 kg, and when you are not using it, it folds into packaging measuring 67 x 52 x 10 cm. It has no anti-theft lock, either for the rack or for the bikes. You will find the list of compatible cars on the product page.
