About the car: Ford Fiesta Mk5 (2002-2008)

The Ford Fiesta Mk5, called the Mk6 in the UK, is the fifth generation of the model and was built in Europe from April 2002 until 2008, on the Ford B3 platform. It came as a 3-door or 5-door hatchback, a 4-door saloon and a 3-door van. In November 2005 the facelift arrived for the 2006 model year, known as the Mk5.5, with new bumpers, grille, headlights and tail lights, plus redesigned mirrors.

On the 5-door hatchback, the tailgate is the simplest place for bikes. The roof of this Fiesta has no roof rails, so a roof-mounted rack would first need roof bars with feet clamped into the door frames. A tailgate-mounted rack such as the Menabo Biki skips this step: it attaches directly to the back of the car and comes off when you no longer need it.

Menabo Biki is a steel rack for 3 bikes that fits on the tailgate or the boot lid. It attaches to the bodywork at 6 points and carries a maximum of 45 kg. The bikes hang by the frame on arms with ridges, with no separate clamps, so they can touch each other. At just 4 kg, the Biki is easy to lift onto the car and just as easy to put away: it folds, and the pack measures 67 x 52 x 10 cm. It is suitable for fat bikes but not for e-bikes, and has no lock for the rack or the bikes. • The bikes can touch each other, and the pedals and handlebars must not touch the Fiesta's bodywork.
