About the car: fitting on the tailgate or boot lid

Bike racks for the tailgate or boot lid attach directly to the back of the car with straps, with no roof bars on the roof. Compatibility depends on your car model, so check the Menabo applicability list before ordering.

On a tailgate, the condition of the edge and of the contact surface matters. The tailgate or boot lid must be cleaned before fitting. After fitting, check that the tail lights and the number plate stay visible.

What we fitted on this tailgate

We fitted the Menabo Mistral bike rack for 3 bikes, tailgate or boot-mounted. It is strapped on, and the contact with the car is rubber that does not scratch the paintwork. The 3 bikes touch each other, so put protection between the frames. The Mistral folds, so it is easy to store.

For the boot lid, Saris Bones RS for 3 bikes has a capacity of 45 kg and does not take e-bikes or fat bikes.
