About the car: Mitsubishi Pajero 4th generation (V80)
The 4th-generation Pajero, with the codes V80 and V90, was built from September 2006 to March 2021. The 2012 facelift (NW series) brought an improved body, and the July 2014 facelift, for the 2015 model year (NX series), brought a revised front end and LED daytime running lights. The 3-door version was built until 2018, and the 5-door version, as in the photos of this fitting, was also available.
On a Pajero with a towbar, the towbar rack does not depend on the roof bars, so it can be fitted independently of them. What matters is that the rack is firmly fixed on the towbar and that the rear lights work, because they are visible in traffic.
What we fitted on this Pajero
We fitted the the Menabo Alcor 4 towbar bike rack for 4 bikes. It attaches to the towbar with the Rapid-Lock lever system, has a tilting function and locks both the rack and the bikes.
The rack has a platform that holds the bikes, signal lights and a 13/7-pin electrical plug. It is suitable for e-bikes and fat bikes, and compatibility with the Menabo Mizar box is listed in the product data.
Technical details and what to watch for
- The rack weighs 24 kg, and the packaging measures 120 x 21.5 x 120 cm.
- The maximum number of bikes is 4, and each bike can weigh up to 25 kg. The load capacity of the rack is 60 kg, so work out the total for the bikes you carry.
- The lock is included for both the rack and the bikes, and the tilting function gives access to the boot.
- The rear lights and the 13/7-pin plug must be connected to the car for signalling. After fitting, check the rear lights and the number plate, which must stay visible.
